PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE

Present continuous tense ആകാംഷയിലുള്ള പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളെ (ongoing actions) വിവരിക്കാൻ English-ലിൽ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു. ഇത് നമ്മൾ സാധാരണയായി ഒരു പ്രവർത്തനം ഇപ്പോൾ നടക്കുകയാണെന്ന് സൂചിപ്പിക്കാനാണ് ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്. Present continuous tense-ൽ, "am," "is," അല്ലെങ്കിൽ "are" എന്ന auxiliary verb-ന്റെ കൂടെ, "ing" കൊണ്ടു അവസാനിക്കുന്ന main verb ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നു.

ഉദാഹരണങ്ങൾ:

  1. I am reading a book.
    ഞാൻ ഒരു പുസ്തകം വായിക്കുകയാണ്.
  2. She is cooking dinner.
    അവൾ വൈകുന്നേരം ഭക്ഷണം പാചകം ചെയ്യുകയാണ്.
  3. They are playing football.

We are going to the cinema tonight.
ഞങ്ങൾ ഇന്നുരാത്രി സിനിമ കാണാൻ പോകുകയാണ്.

ഇതുപോലെ, present continuous tense വളരെ പ്രചാരത്തിലുള്ളത് മാത്രമല്ല, നമ്മുടെ ദൈനംദിന സംഭാഷണങ്ങളിൽ സാധാരണയായി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്ന ഒരു tense ആണ്. "Right now," "at the moment," "currently" തുടങ്ങിയexpressions ഇതിന്റെ കൂടെ അധികമായി ഉപയോഗിക്കാറുണ്ട്, ഇത് കൂടുതൽ present continuous tense-നെ വ്യക്തമായി അടയാളപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു

The present continuous tense, also known as the present progressive tense, is used to describe actions that are happening right now or around the present time, temporary situations, future plans, and repeated actions that are annoying or irritating (often with "always"). Here are some key points:

  1. Structure:
    • Affirmative: Subject + am/is/are + verb + -ing
      • I am (I'm) working.
      • She is (She's) working.
      • They are (They're) working.
    • Negative: Subject + am/is/are + not + verb + -ing
      • I am not (I'm not) working.
      • She is not (isn't) working.
      • They are not (aren't) working.
    • Interrogative: Am/Is/Are + subject + verb + -ing?
      • Am I working?
      • Is she working?
      • Are they working?

  1. Usage:
    • Actions happening now: Actions occurring at the moment of       speaking.
      • She is reading a book right now.
    • Temporary situations: Situations that are temporary or       happening around the present time.
      • They are staying at a hotel this week.
    • Future plans: Planned events or actions in the near       future.
      • We are meeting them for dinner tomorrow.
    • Annoying repeated actions: Actions that are repeated and often       annoying, usually with "always".
      • He is always complaining about the        weather.

  1. Examples:
    • Affirmative: She is studying for her       exams.
    • Negative: They are not (aren't) watching      TV.
    • Interrogative: Are you coming to the       party tonight?
